Bubble Machine II

About Project

Building on its predecessor's legacy, Bubble Machine II debuted at the 1999 LIVID festival, marking a significant evolution in mobile interactive sculpture. This sophisticated iteration features custom servo-controlled six-wheel steering, allowing precise navigation across diverse terrains. The engineering advances include independent front suspension, rolling beam rear suspension, and an electric access door for the pilot's compartment.

The machine's primary function - creating cascades of bubbles - is achieved through dual high-capacity bubble blowers. Making its mark across Australia's cultural landscape, the piece gained international recognition when Bonga Films featured it in a mini-documentary for Converse's global campaign in 2006. From the Brisbane Powerhouse to Melbourne's Federation Square, and delighting audiences at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Bubble Machine II concluded its public journey when it was acquired by a private collector, leaving behind a legacy of technical innovation and playful artistry.
