Years of Experience
My work exists in a space of deliberate contradiction – where simple actions become complex mechanisms, where technology amplifies physical presence, and where the familiar transforms into the extraordinary.
Working from my solar-powered workshop on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, I've devoted my practice to investigating the paradoxes inherent in our relationship with technology and movement. Each piece in this collection represents an exploration of how we perceive and interact with our environment, challenging viewers to question their assumptions about the nature of reality and human experience.
As both designer and fabricator, I have the unique privilege of controlling every aspect of creation, from concept to installation. This comprehensive approach allows me to push the boundaries of what's possible when traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary technology. My background spans fine arts and engineering, creating a foundation for work that is technically precise yet conceptually rich.
The sculptures presented here range from intimate mechanical pieces to large-scale public installations. Some harness natural light, others transform spaces after dark through integrated illumination. Many incorporate interactive elements that respond to human presence, creating a dialogue between object and observer. Each piece is designed not merely to exist in space, but to activate it – transforming locations into sites of contemplation, interaction, and discovery.
Sustainability is fundamental to my practice, not just as an environmental consideration but as a philosophical stance. Working offgrid has informed my approach to resource use and efficiency, values that manifest in both material choices and construction methods. These works stand as artifacts of conscious creation in an increasingly ephemeral world.
This collection represents years of investigating what emerges when we combine precision engineering with artistic vision, always in service of creating experiences that challenge perception and inspire contemplation. Whether it's a monumental kinetic sculpture or an intricate mechanical installation, each piece aims to reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary, inviting viewers to explore the complex relationships between human, machine, and environment.
My hope is that these works continue to provoke thought, challenge assumptions, and remind us of the profound connections between the physical and conceptual realms of human experience.
