“Landing” is a site-specific, monumental sculpture where people, time and sport intersect. Capturing this essence of connection, “Landing” provides a highly memorable arrival marker for Kai Tak Sports Park.

“Landing” draws on the people of Hong Kong’s shared memories of
Kai Tak Airport and of the planes flying through the city. Of memories of
chasing the plane’s shadow and of the famous low-altitude 47deg
turn.
"Landing" shows a forced perspective illusion. This illusion prompts
viewers to ponder whether
the plane, in the distance, is a small aircraft nearby or a larger one
farther away. This evokes a
sense of nostalgia and memory for Kai Tak Airport and Runway 13/31.
Looking to the future, “Landing” features two athletic figures posed in
a frame of high-energy movement, inspired by sports spirit of unity
and achievement.
