Pathways Fossil Seat
Street Furniture · Public Art · Pine Rivers, Queensland
Large bench seats with a concrete centre embedded with cold-cast bronze Diprotodon bones. The Diprotodon, the largest marsupial that ever lived, roamed Australia in the Pleistocene.
The seats do two jobs, hiding large drains as well as giving people somewhere to sit. The pavers leading to each one carry impressions of plants common to both the Pleistocene and today, and each seat has eight LED fittings, four of them designed and built for this project.
