Robelle Domain Light Towers

Public Art · Robelle Domain, Springfield Lakes, Queensland

Tall stainless light towers ring the amphitheatre at Robelle Domain, the park at the heart of Springfield Lakes. They were made at the same time as the NanO Harvester, which stands in the same park.

The concept was Vee Design's, including the lighting and the laser that beams from the top of each tower. Russell's scope was the towers themselves: designing them and working out how they would be built and put together, then drawing them up for construction. He did not build them or manage their construction.

Each tower is a rolled stainless shell cut through with leaf-like panels, perforated in a pattern of small slots. By day the polished steel catches the sky; at night the perforations glow.
